LIST PRICE: $16.00
ISBN: 0880792922
TYPE OF DECK: Modeled on the Rider-Waite deck, although some of the cards take extreme license.
ARTISTIC STYLE: Primitive painterly.
DECK BOOKLET: Very nice booklet. Walker does some excellent research, but at times, goes out on a limb with conjecture.
BOOK: The book associated with this deck was published before the deck and is one of the best books on Tarot symbolism I've ever read. The book is written by Barbara Walker and is called THE SECRETS OF THE TAROT.
SHUFFLE-ABILITY:Excellent for anyone, large or small hands. This is an ideal card size. (6.2 x 10 cm.)
QUALITY OF PRINTING: High quality and plastic coated.
ADDITIONAL SYMBOL SYSTEM: Although the imagery draws from a variety of traditions, there are no additional symbols "added" to the cards. The titles of the cards are in five different languages: English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
ACCESSORIES / PACKAGE: "Flap style" box; adequate protection for cards.
BEST POINTS: Some very unusual imagery based on research into a variety of mythologies. Quite unique!
WORST POINTS: Descriptive phrases printed on cards, which restrict interpretation and become annoying unless you can learn to ignore them.
REVIEWER'S COMMENTS: This is an excellent deck to study with and read. The book, I consider a must; very well written. The deck is easy to read with because all the cards have scenes depicted on them. Very good beginner's deck, and yet, has plenty of material for the advanced reader.
