Star
The Morning Star / The Evening Star
The star card represents the divine force which is a traverser of two worlds; the higher and the lower. It is a beacon to us of what lies beyond and it willingly falls to the Lower World in order to rise up again, thus serving as an example of resurrection/rebirth to all humanity.
The star referred to here specifically, is known today as the planet Venus and is what is called a "blazing star" because it travels through the rays of the sun when it goes from morning to evening star. It is the brightest object in the night sky, other than the moon, and so the sun being the king of the day and the moon being the queen of night, this star as child of the two is called the prince of darkness. This is not to be taken as an ominous title, but instead to be understood in relation to the phrase, "Light a single candle, rather than curse the darkness." As the most beautiful star in the heavens, it does this.
