The Widow
The Widow is the Goddess who has lost her beloved. She has attained her good judgement as a result of her loss. With hindsight comes wisdom; looking back at the past she is able to see what was truly important and what was trivial. This knowledge can be used in the present and this is why the advice, of those with more experience than us, is of such value.
Knowing the difference between what is temporary / trivial and lasting / important is a direct result of having suffered the normal losses that occur in every life. The "judgement" we are speaking of with this card is not judgement over anyone, but instead, "good judgement" or discernment; "prudence" one of the cardinal Pagan virtues.
